Resumo:
Situations that are configured as emergency or emergency prehospital are answered by
the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU). SAMU is a work that assumes visibility
for its development in public places. Thus, nursing in this service is exposed to constant
criticism about its performance and therefore, in addition to being able to act in the pre-
hospital care must also be knowledgeable about the ethical-legal aspects of its work.
The present study aimed to analyze the knowledge of nursing professionals working in
SAMU on the ethical and legal aspects of their work. It was a descriptive cross-
sectional study, with a qualitative approach, developed in the decentralized and
centralized bases of the Regional of Cajazeiras - Paraíba. The instrument used for the
data collection consists of a questionnaire with objective questions with information
about the professional performance and a semi-structured script interview, for the
collection of the subjective data of the subjects' perceptions. For the quantitative
variables, the database was constructed in SPSS, version 20.0 and descriptive statistics
was used. For the qualitative variables, the data analysis was performed based on the
thematic content analysis. Of the professionals interviewed, 55% are nurses and 45%
are nursing technicians. Ethics encompasses complex dimensions that will define it
according to each precept, and so if morals change in society ethics also transforms.
Nursing has laws and health policies that establish who are the components of the team
that manages the ambulances and the attributions of each one. Professions have codes
that guide professionals in thinking and acting before themselves and the other. These
guidelines are strict and must be strictly adhered to, as they aim to protect the
professionals, the entire category and also the people who depend on that professional.
Nursing is responsible for the execution of distance medical prescription. The ethical
and legal aspects that govern the profession deserve greater attention during academic
training and also by the students and later these as professionals.
