After approval of the law 10. 216/2011 assisted in the creation of substitute services in mental health, aimed at the construction of autonomy, citizenship, social inclusion and effective and integral care to users. In this way, the SAMU is an important device for attention in mental health, especially in the municipalities which do not have CAPS (III), as is the case of the city target of this study. This research aimed to verify the actions developed by professionals in the Mobile service of Urgency (SAMU), especially by nursing professionals, the user with psychic suffering, in the municipality of Brazil – PB. It is a field research with quantitative, descriptive and documentary approach. The study surveyed 170 charts, users of these 80 were analyzed. The instrument used for data collection was a form containing data about the user profile, as well as symptoms presented by users, diagnoses (cases fulfilled) and actions developed by professionals. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, presented through graphs and tables. The results showed that most users are male, with age range between 21 to 39 years. The main symptoms presented by users (38%) were: agitation, disorientation (22%), anxiety and aggression (15%), respectively, each. Among the cases met and more prevalent: psychotic breaks (76%), depression (8%) and schizophrenia (6%). The main actions developed by the team of SAMU, especially by nursing professionals were: drug delivery (50%) and measurement of vital signs (30%). The nurse and the other components of the interdisciplinary team of SAMU, since qualified, may contribute with humanized and effective practices in this area of great social relevance. The articulation with the mental health network and investment in professional training based on the principles of the SUS and the brazilian psychiatric reform are essential tools for the consolidation of an intervention in crisis by the SAMU.
