Abstract:
Inappropriate use of medicines is a serious public health problem worldwide. Antimicrobials are drugs that act by eliminating microorganisms (bactericidal) or inhibiting their growth (bacteriostatic). The objective of the present study was to evaluate the prescription and dispensing of antimicrobials in the Basic Pharmacy of the Municipality of Nova Floresta/PB, as well as verify the appropriateness of the revenues to the current legislation (RDC No. 20/2011 - ANVISA). This study corresponds to a cross - sectional, qualitative and quantitative study of the descriptive type, whose sample follow - up was antimicrobial users of the municipality of Nova Floresta. Data from the survey were collected between October 2017 and May 2018, from questionnaires. Fifty users were evaluated. Female prevalence was observed (74%). The prevalent age range was between 31 and 60 years (50%), followed by users over 60 years (26%). The most widely used antimicrobials were amoxicillin 500 mg (32%) and ampicillin 500 mg (22%). Regarding the prescriptions and the correct filling, it was verified that 14% presented nonconformities associated to the dosage, being the main one of them the absence of treatment time (85.7%). No drug interactions were found between the drugs used concomitantly with antimicrobials by patients. It was observed the need for a greater interaction of prescribers with patients, contributing to the rational use of medicines, as well as the greater provision of guidelines by the pharmacist in conjunction with the users.
