Résumé:
The main goal of this work, based on a TM/LANDSAT-5 imagery set and on
field work data, is to provide a source of information about ground water resources of
the study area. It was accomplished a land use, a drainage and water reservoirs survey,
as well as a structural study of the geology of the area, aiming to delimit a set of
subareas most favorable to ground water research. According to the drainage analysis,
the predominant drainage pattern of the area is dendritic. One right-handed shearing
system were identified is parallel-subparallel to the lineament of Patos and
Pernambuco. 25 most favourable areas to the ground water investigation were
identified. They are related to opened structures crossings, defined by an analysis of
shearing systems, fracture sheaves and lineaments Most of these areas are related to
structures N65°E±5°, N35°E±5° and EW±5°-oriented. Comparative analysis of these
results with additional data about deep wells were accomplished, aiming checks on
the accuracy of the identification process. Four (04) low potential areas were
identified to illustrate the validation of the ground water identification strategy
adopted here. Conventional representation techniques were adopted for the most of
the analysis and interpretation results. Eight (08) maps were generated. A part of the
data set, corresponding to 39,2 % of the study area, was converted to the digital
format and processed to generate 11 digital maps.
