Resumen:
In this work mathematical models were developed to simulate the heat and mass transfer,
during the drying process of heterogeneous solids of arbitrary shape basing on a lumped approach.
The exact solutions to the ruling equations considering the phenomenon simultaneous and no
simultaneous of heat and mass transfer arc presented and analyzed. Several results of moisture
content and temperature of the solid during the process being varied the density, specific heat and
latent heat of vaporization of the water in the solid are presented and analyzed. Any results obtained
were compared with the analytical results reported in the literature for a homogeneous body. It was
verified that the heterogeneity condition of the solid matrix assures a better analysis in the drying
process, being obtained results more concrete ; nd physically real.
