Resumo:
When considering the two reservoirs Dam the river Corner and Engenho Mazagão, which supply water to the city of Areia, PB, have offered a health risk population areiense of their quality, we began to monitor them August to November 2009.
Usually collects the water surface of the reservoir, the water depth (depth zero), in which case the water was collected at 1 and 3m deep, in the rainy season and the dry season. Of each tank were made of 9samples water sample total of 18 and 2 samples of soil the edges of each, totaling four samples at 30 and 60cm depth. Water samples analyzed microbiologically and physicochemically showed fecal counts above the values allowed by our laws in 100 mL-¹, NMP, when Inatura and after treatment showed this parameter to zero count, however physico-chemically, Inatura and after treatment presented μgem-¹ Electrical Conductivity at 25 º C, 224, 0 to 479.0, Unit Hazen color or uH 30.0 to 80.0 mgPtL-¹, total iron 0.32 to 1.11 mgL- ¹ and turbidity (JTU) 5.1 to 16.2, well above the permitted when the tolerance is around 0.0-μgem ¹ 25 ° C, 15.0 mgL-¹, 0.3 mgL-¹ and 5.0 respectively in 1000 mL, however, when treated, the NMPL-¹ was zero (0.0), so within the permissible standards.
As the analysis of soil, the pH River Dam in the corner end of Mazagão was 7.64 and 6.63 to 30 and 60cm soil depth considered normal. The causes of this contamination are due to high water seepage pit, dumps of polluted waters in streams with other types of solids, the infiltration of water from the three pits of slaughterhouse animals located the banks of the main stream of the reservoir River Song, water contamination with direct dejetos human and other animals and the inadequate treatment.
We conclude, based on the data analyzed, the water supplied to the population of Areia, PB, is unfit for human consumption and animal and for other purposes, with respect to the parameters microbiological and physico-chemical, according to the Ordinance nº. 2914 of December 12, 2011 the Ministry of Health.
