Resumo:
The methodology of classification of Lateritic Soils proposed by Rodrigues et al (2010) from studies of Brazilian, Portuguese, French, Indian, and Australian experiences, as well as of other countries having tropical and sub-tropical climates, associated to parameters related partially to granulometry, texture, mineralogy, which are remarkable over mechanic and physical properties of those materials, having as an aim rational usage of those materials. The authors classify Lateritic Soils targeting highway structure construction with low costs as: Lateritic Rocky Soil, Lateritic Sandy Soil and Lateritic Thin Soil. This work has got as its aim to checklist the Classification efficiency proposed from a case study with three Brazilian soils which are seen as Lateritic Soils. The results indicate that the studied samples can be classified as being Lateritic Sandy Soils, and the proposal concerns on an adequate procedure to get to a rational and affective usage of Lateritic Soils as material to flexible paving layers with low traffic flow.
