Resumo:
From 2015 it was noted the increase in the number of cases of infections relateds to
Zika Virus (ZIKV) in Brasil and in another countries at South America and Caribe.
This disease was initially dificult to be diagnosticated because the similarities with the
signals and symptoms of dengue. Were observed pruritus, cutaneous rash,
arthralgia, non-infected pinkeye and periferic edema. Associated it was observed the
increase in numbers of microcephaly at the same period and a possible relation of
infection by ZIKV and microcephaly began to be investigated by the follow-up of
children with microcephaly for the evaluation of them development. These children
need special care and because of it many times the carers have emotional overload
and stress, special the mothers. Describe the emotional overload/stress at mothers
of children with microcephaly witch are pacientes of the follow-up servisse at an
Universitary Hospital in Paraíba; the specific objectives are to describe the
sociodemographic profile of the mothers and describe the impact factors of the
mothers who have children with microcephaly at the follow-up service of an
Universitary Hospital in Paraíba. it is a descreptive transversal study, developed at
the pediatric follow-up service of the Hospital Universitário Lauro Wanderley (HULW)
with mothers of children with microcephaly by ZIKV. It was used the Zarit Burden
Interview (ZBI) that was validated to Brazil by Scazufca in 2002 and a
sociodemographic questionary. These instruments were aplied by the participant
researcher during the wait period for the service. By the analisis of the colected data
it was observed that mothers who partcipated of the research have low emotional
overload, but were noted some specific stress points, like the selfcare and
coordination of children’s care and other day-by-day activities. Another relevant
stress point was the financial conditions’s impact at the care quality. In this way, it is
noted the necessity of others studies in the same area to develop strategies to
protect these woman of this emotional overload. This is essencial for an appropriat
care for the children.
