Abstract:
This paper aims to understand the production of charcoal in the municipality of
Índios Waterfall - PB, analyzing the environmental impacts resulting from the
manufacturing process from the beginning to the final stage, used as a methodology
explanatory and descriptive research on the subject. Showing that the charcoal
found around the city have been degrading the environment through the
impact on the local biome such as deforestation, loss of
natural vegetation, disappearance of species of animals, insects and reptiles, for
burned, erosion due to lack of vegetation cover that protects the soil. Through this
analysis was achieved result showing how degrading coal production is
conducted in the municipality, but shows measures that can minimize the impacts
generated by these activities, bringing benefits to nature and to the workers of
local charcoal plants.
