Résumé:
The present work aims to analyze the use of artesian wells as a secondary / temporary source
of water supply in the city of Bonito de Santa Fe - PB, in the face of the water deficit
associated to the long periods of drought. The main objective was to point out another way to
obtain water resources to supply the city in a sustainable way where we discovered artesian
wells as a secondary source. Water is a finite natural resource, which dispenses concerns
about its use, and which, is not accessible to all equally. Faced with this reality the search for
groundwater sources became intense mainly in precarious places of water supply, either
during a period of drought or water rationing mainly in the northeast of Brazil. The wells cited
as a form of abstraction of groundwater are constructions of physical structures introduced
into the soil through perforations with the objective of obtaining water that can surface freely
or forced for various purposes such as the supply of residences, agricultural and industrial use
among others. Through this research it was possible to diagnose other factors responsible for
the water deficit in the study area, such as the lack of conservation actions and rational water
use. In the research procedures we opted for the development of an exploratory-descriptive
design. From the point of view of its nature, this research is classified as "applied research",
aiming to generate knowledge of practical application, directed to the solution of specific
problems, involving local truths and interests. The results pointed out the problems regarding
the availability and quantity of water resources available to the population of the municipality
and the origin of the problem under analysis.
