Resumen:
Pain is one of the most frequent reasons for disability and suffering for patients and
because it is subjective, one does not have to measure it. Medicine management is
important for the relief, control and treatment of this, often the dimension of pain is
much larger than the area affected or injured by the disease itself. The present work
aims to analyze the management of pain in terminal patients. The research method
chosen was the integrative review, in which the descriptors management, pain,
terminal patients, and a literary review were used for scientific foundation and work
construction. The consultation was conducted in data from the PubMed, Scielo,
National Cancer Institute (INCA), Journal of Medicine Palliatives, Uptodate, Cancer
Relief Commission USA, www.painphysicianjournal.com, Ministry of Health to obtain
current statistical data, and have been published within a period of 15 (fifteen) years
(2001, 2005, 2010, 2012 to 2016). The selection resulted in eleven articles, which
met the criteria of inclusion of the research, being initiated the reading and analysis
of the scientific productions. After analyzing the articles, the most relevant ones were
selected and grouped with the intention of facilitating the comparison between pain
management: success of pharmacology and care of professionals in drug
management, understanding of pain, palliative treatment for pain relief, opioids, and
analgesics. The analysis showed similar results in the treatment of terminally patients
with pain, where most of the articles studied presented relevant information that gave
background to the subject and very important for this analysis, therefore, the
evidences of the studies performed were very important, since it presented the
reality, Which made the scientific evidence more applicable to clinical practice.
