Resumo:
Renewable raw materials such as vegetable oils are highlighted with the industrial
sector by offering wide applicability and not harm the environment. These oils are
found in seeds of various plants and consist mainly of triglycerides. These
triglycerides can be converted to biodiesel via transestenfication reaction, which
requires an acidic heterogeneous catalyst with features for optimal performance. This
work aims at the synthesis and characterization of mesoporous materials of type Al-
SBA-15 with different ratios S i 0 2 / A I 203 t o be used in the production of biodiesel from
soybean oil using the transestenfication reaction. The molecular sieve AI-SBA-15
was prepared under hydrothermal treatment at 100°C for two days using the
following molar composition of the reagents: 1.0 Si02 : X Al203 : 0.0168
E02oP07oE02o:_5.85 HCI: 160 H2 0 where X is equal to 0.040, 0.028 and 0.020,
according to the Si02/AI203 ratio. The materials were calcined in muffle-type furnace
at 500°C for 6 hours. The diffraction confirmed the presence of the structures
obtained. By means of SEM micrographs was found that the material showed an
irregular morphology of the particles formed when changing the S i 0 2 / A l 203 ratio. The
samples were evaluated in transestenfication reactions at temperatures of 200°C for
2 hours. The biodiesel produced was analyzed by gas chromatography.
