The occupational accident is defined as one that can cause damage to the individual, impacting their ability to work, highlighting the work of needlestick accident. The study aimed to summarize the studies published in healthcare journals during the period 2010-2014, which dealt with accidents caused by these materials. This is an integrative review, the methodology allows the synthesis of knowledge and the incorporation of employment of relevant studies results in practice. Therefore, there were online searches in the Virtual Health Library The sample consisted of 08 productions that fit the inclusion criteria:. Original and review research published in scientific paper format; in journals in the health area, with Portuguese language; whose title reveal relationship with nursing professionals. Data were collected on a form prepared by the researcher, based on the instrument validated by Ursi (2005). The results were presented in tables and graphs and analyzed in the light of the relevant literature. These results show that: in 2011 there was the largest number of publications on that theme, with three studies; Periodicals with more publications were: Journal of Nursing of UERJ and the Journal of Northeastern Nursing Network; the hospital was the seat of the study, predominant. The methodological approach was applied over the quantity present in four articles. There was a correlation between goals and results and between results and conclusions. The recommendations of the authors were considered. It was concluded that nursing professionals should be aware of the magnitude of the problem, seeing the care of their own health. It is also critical managers offer training courses and adequate working conditions.
