Infectious and parasitic diseases constitute a major public health problem that can be prevented with applicable hygienic measures daily. The incidence of these infections is closely related to economic, political and social conditions. Nursing acts in the prevention of these diseases and the promotion of population health, and educational activities as an important instrument. The study was meant to examine the educational actions developed by nurses of the ESF, in the prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases, from the perspective of these professionals. And specific objectives: To characterize the sample in terms of sociodemographic and professional aspects; Ascertain the themes addressed by the ESF nurses regarding the development of educational activities, focused on prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases; Investigate the methodological practices employed by FHS nurses to develop educational activities, focused on prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases; Identify weaknesses and potential of educational activities developed by the ESF; Make suggestions to strengthen health education activities developed by nurses of the ESF, in the prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases. It is an exploratory study developed under the qualitative approach. The study included nine nurses working in the FHS of the cities of Jacana-RN, New Forest-PB and Cuité-PB. Data were collected through interviews, which were submitted to content analysis proposed by Bardin. It was found that the inclusion of these activities in the routine of health services has been pointing several challenges, which are linked to barriers such as: work overload; limits on the formal education of users; lack of resource subsidies for dissemination in the community. It is suggested to invest in the training of professionals in order to instrumentalize them for the better performance of educational nature activities.
