Resumo:
It presents a case study where the repercussions of the crisis that knocked down the
syndicalism of public servants and its implications in the Syndicate of Workers in Higher
Education in Paraiba (Sindicato dos Trabalhadores em Ensino Superior na Paraiba) were
analysed. It focused the period from 1990 to 2006. It all happened in a context of a neoliberal
globalization where the background is the repercussions of the crisis of work/employment and
its implications to the public sector. As it is a movement of public servants, the impact of
changes in the work relations because o f the Reformation of the Role of State were analysed ,
specifically the Administrative Reformation and its repercussionss in the political and
syndicalist practices of SINTESPB (Syndicate of Workers in Higher Education in
Paraiba),taking into account the singularities, differentiations and heterogeneity of work
categories in the public service and consequently its implications in syndicalist action. It was
verified, indeed, the changes that happened in the described period, affected the political and
organizative practices, changing the subjectivity o f the Syndicalist leaderances of SINTESPB,
leading them to disorientation in the conduction of syndicalist fight, protagonizing a crisis
that still lasts in the syndicalist movement of Workers in Public Higher Education in Paraiba.
