Résumé:
The natural childbirth can be conceptualized as a physiological process that develops and ends
without the need for surgical interventions the example of Cesarean child-birth, in which the
woman can´t be childbirth’s protagonist, being treated as a passive object of interventions and
separated from her family, standing alone. This situation sugest an immersion of the mother in
hostile and unknown enviroment. Some cases of verbal violence, practiced by
healthprofessionals who are not committed to the humanization of assistance have been
registered. From this the objective of meeting the expectations and frustrations of women who
experienced the natural childbirth. This study consists of a quantitative approach, performed on
Dr. Deodato Cartaxo Maternity., whose sample of study subjects was approached in the period
from January to February 2018, with recente mothers subjected to natural childbirth. The data
was collected in the period between August and December 2017, from a semi-structured
interview, guided by a pre-tested form. The characterization of the sample was performed and
registered, as well as experiences and behavioral ones before the birth. The universe of study

research that most women would prefer the natural childbirth (82,85%), and that more than half
of the participants would choose the regular way again (54,28%), the pain is the main reason
that causes fear in the majority of the participants (82,85%), and after a natural childbirth, most
of them (77,14%) expected a quick recovery. It was found that there was no incentive for the
natural childbirth during prenatal care for the sample consider of the study (37,14%) and that
the information offered about prenatal are still insufficient, being possible to realize that the
main expectations of the women were related to a fast recovery and the pain of childbirth.
