Resumen:
This paper aims to open the dialogue about the "state of the question" of madness in the city
of Cajazeiras-PB, based on a historiographical perspective. We problematize the
transformations that more properly cover the process of the Psychiatric Reform, starting from
the national scope and perceiving the reflexos of this in Paraíba and more specifically in
Cajazeiras. We seek to perceive, from a Foucauldian perspective of discourse analysis
(Foucault, 2014), the deviations and continuities that have been delineated within a temporal
clipping of the present time, having as a guiding point the creation of the Center for
Psychosocial Attention (CAPS) in the municipality, in the year 2001. We also sought to
identify the power devices that are engendered in the relationships between the subjects that
use the mental health care, having as main source medical records of the CAPS II. In
addition, based on the historian Alain Corbin, we take the field of a history of sensitivities,
which is subjectively present in the subjects' life context, considering that they construct and
count, individually and collectively, their narratives of themselves. Still in terms of sources,
three interviews with active actors were carried out in this context, as well as the analysis of
materials that deal with the inauguration of the CAPS and projects carried out within the
institution. With this, we intend to open up a range of possibilities for re-elaboration of
sociocultural and historical actions directed at the area of mental health.
