Abstract:
The unavailability of resources, is one of the main problems faced by the World Wide
Web users nowadays. This problem is normally caused by failures in the Web's infra-structure
and can be solved by the introduction of redundancy on the system, by means of replicating its
resources. Resource replication allows the redution of the probability of the unavailability of
resources. Unfortunately, the resource identification scheme provided by the Web does not
support resource replcation because it maps the resource identification on a unique physical
location. Our proposal uses a new resource identification scheme that can be used to
implement the mirroring of Web resources. This is implemented by a proxy that is able to
access this mirrored resources. The recovery of mirrored resources is improved by a load
balancing mechanism.
