Resumo:
Since hydrometeorological data are fundamental to the use of water resources in a region, the information system of these data must be well planned. In this paper, the process of planning a network is considered.
as well as the process of optimizing an installed network, taking into account the special aspects of the arid and semi-arid regions of northeastern Brazil.
The network optimization process, called rationalization, is applied to a region of Paraíba State - the Cabaceiras pressure - a hydrologically homogeneous area of the Agreste. The method and programs developed by Herbaud (5) are used. The results indicate that, although there are no available data of adequate duration and quality to rationalize the network, the method is valid and should be considered as the next step in network planning.
