Résumé:
It is remarkable the large crescent of motorcycle accidents in the country. Each
year, the figures show that the number of deaths and morbidities grows because of road rage. The
causes that lead to these alarming figures are mainly the ease of purchase and motorcycle
financing, inability to drive, no more effective monitoring, the combination of alcohol and
speeding, non-use of PPE (equipment individual) as the protective helmet. The most efficient
procedure to obtain satisfactory results, it would work on the aforementioned risk factors in order
to minimize them and thus reduce the amount of accidents. Objectives: To describe the
epidemiology of injured motorcyclists in the city of Aurora-CE in the period 2009-2013.
Methods: exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective research with quantitative
approach. The study population resulted victims of motorcycle accidents of that city and the
sample consisted of chips outpatient General Hospital Ignez Andreazza and recorded during the
period from January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2013, which were sociodemographic and
analyzed data related to accidents. Results: sex and age group most incidents by motorcycle
accidents were men (80.4%), 18-28 years old, single (54.6%), in rural area (54.4%). The injuries
occurred primarily during the hours of 18h to 23h59, with a sharp increase in December and a
steady increase from 2009 to 2013 The main outcome of the cases was the stabilization and
transfer to other hospitals. Conclusion: Aurora, located in Ceará cariri has an event rate of
motorcycle accidents quite high, there is evidence that this increase is closely related to a number
of factors that predispose the event of accidents, the lack of a more effective supervision, a slow
process education of pedestrians, disregard for traffic laws by motorcyclists.
