Resumen:
The National School Feeding Programme (PNAE) is considered one of the largest programs in the school feeding area in Brazil, still in effect. The only service that has universalized for students of basic education registered in public and philanthropic schools. Its aim to provide high-quality food in sufficient quantity, thus promoting the Human Right to Adequate Food and Food Security and Nutrition. This research objective is to evaluate the implementation of this program in the city of Frei Martinho-PB, and point out the strengths and possible obstacles encountered, enabling strategies to achieve the PNAE guidelines. A matrix with 28 indicators was used, covering three dimensions: Management dimension; Participation and Social Control; and Food and Nutrition Efficiency. The data from this evaluation were obtained through forms designed to Executing Entity (EE), the School Feeding Council (EAC) and the municipal school units. To conduct this study, the Secretary of Education signed the term of consent and acceptance. The overall result of the three evaluative dimensions pointed a satisfactory performance of the program in the city, because it partially achieved the expected results in at least one dimension. However, the results of the indicators pointed to the need for a review of the financial resources, infrastructure of school units and adequacy of menus. The use of indicators by means of this methodology will allow EE improve program management and also assist a continuing review of the actions taken to achieve the guidelines established by PNAE.
