Resumo:
Population aging has been a growing phenomenon nowadays in both developed and developing countries. The aging process occurs naturally and there are gradual changes in the human being. For this reason, as this population grows, it is necessary to provide a special attention focused in maintaining the quality of life, preventing injuries and preserving the health status through actions made in the primary health care service through the Family Health Strategy. Objective: To describe health actions developed by the multiprofessional team to the elderly person in the Primary Care of Cajazeiras - PB. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, conducted through interviews with Doctors and Nurses linked to the Family Health Strategy of Cajazeiras - PB. The method of analysis used was proposed by Bardin. The research project was submitted to the Ethics Committee in Researches of the Federal University of Campina Grande - UFCG - Alcides Carneiro University Hospital - HUAC, and was approved under the Number of Opinion: 1966516. Results and Discussion: The results showed that there is a great participation of the multiprofessional team in the planning of health actions, and that the nurse is frequently in charge of it. In addition, it has been identified the lack of capacity-building for the health of the elderly and since graduation there has been a deficiency in the content in the area. Regarding to the professionals' understanding of the quality of life, the elderly should live with dignity, be respected and loved and not only the issue of health illness. It was also noted the importance of performing health actions for the elderly, as well as seeking to know the health actions developed by the team, revealing individual and collective actions, as well as the facilities and barriers found in their effectiveness. Final considerations: It was identified that the issue of aging must be worked by the multiprofessional team through health actions in the Family Health Strategy, thus favoring the maintenance of the quality of life and health of the elderly, leading to reduce the damages that the aging process brings on.
