Resumen:
The human being is endowed with social, emotional, psychological and especially spiritual needs. Thus the human being turns to religion as a form of spiritual food, to fill emotionally and spirituality to believe that there is a transcendent being in which he believes and puts his faith. Objective: To conduct an integrative review of the national literature on health promotion actions directed to religion and spirituality. Method: Integrative review of the literature search for articles in the databases MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO using the following keywords: religion and spirituality, religion and health promotion, religion and spiritualism, religion and Catholicism, spirituality and religion, spirituality and health promotion , spirituality and spiritualism, spirituality and Catholicism, the religion and health promotion, health and spirituality promotion, health promotion and spiritualism, health promotion and Catholicism. Of the articles found, 15 were selected for the final analysis. Results: Most of the studies selected for this research is the LILACS database developed in the Central-South region, with a qualitative approach, in article format, developed by graduate students, teachers, doctors and PhD. Discussion: The study addressed the thematic actions health promotion directed at religion and spirituality emphasizing four categories: Religion importance in the context of health; The influence of religion and spirituality in the attitudes and behavior of people; Health promotion actions evidenced from religion and spirituality; The presence of religious institutions in health promotion activities. Final Thoughts: Religion and spirituality have always been present in people's lives, linking ways of looking at life to everyday actions. The united to religion be a transcendent and divine faith exists, it has helped so there is health promotion actions that will reduce the potential risk of illness.
