The nurse is considered a fundamental piece of the primary user assistance in the ESF and, therefore, develops essential work activities for the service. This study aims to know the nurses' performance in their work activities provided in primary care. It is, predominantly, a qualitative study, methodologically based on dialectical and historical materialism. The study was done with nurses of five Strategies Health of the city of Cuité, and also, with two users of each of these units. The collected data were analysed through the speech analysis technique proposed by Fiorin. With this analysis technique was possible to identify what are the main difficulties that the nurse finds in Primary Health Care, moreover, it was possible to ascertain what patients think of nursing care in the Family Health Strategy. The research results converge to the daily limitations faced by nurses that directly interfere in the work performance of this professional category. Among the daily limitations, could be emphasized alternating periods of lack of basic input materials. However, from the point of view of the interviewed users the performance of nurses in primary health care is going on satisfactorily, pointing as limitations the arrival time of professional and the necessity of flexibility in the schedule developed weekly aiming consultations in order to spontaneous demand involving nursing care in family planning , prenatal , cytological , hiperdia , childcare, etc. In conclusion, it is of extreme magnitude that nurses who work in a FHS has a good performance in primary health care, since it offers to user host and resolution during treatment in the unit. Nevertheless, beyond technical competence, the management of health services should provide material and logistical resources necessary for the proper performance of nursing and the health team as a whole.
