Résumé:
Throughout history, religions appear as something created to guide people, evangelize and give support to those who need, being impregnated its image, true havens of charity, exile and salvation. However, major changes are in the religious setting, with emergence of new conceptions and concerns on the part of the faithful, the same has been shaping to best serve them. The objective of the present study consisted of meeting the limits and possibilities of religious influence in the health-disease process of the community of a municipality in Paraiba. The methodology used was based on the theoretical and methodological perspective of dialectical and historical materialism started from speech analysis proposed by Fiorin (2008) for discussion and analysis of the data. Through a qualitative research held with religious leaders and faithful of religions: Catholic, Evangelical and spiritualist, from the municipality of Frei Martinho - PB, it was possible to assimilate in their speeches, which leaders and faithful share ideological aspects such as the importance of leadership in the health-disease process. It is noted that religions, even if discreetly, influence over their loyals, able to direct them to paths that must follow, causing them to donate in the works of the Church in front of a "commitment assumed with God".
