Résumé:
This work had the objective to study the influence of meteorological elements in the
cases of cholera, dengue and meningitis in the state of the Paraiba, aiming at to
understand the behavior habitual and to improve the control on these illnesses, by
means of the weekly averages of temperature and relative humidity of air and
weekly precipitation totals, in the cities of Areia, Campina Grande, Joao Pessoa,
Monteiro and Sousa, in the years of 1999, 2000 and 2001. With data supplied for
the Laboratorio de Meteorologia, Recursos Hidricos e Sensoriamento Remoto da
Paraiba, Secretaria Estadual de Saude da Paraiba, Secretaria Municipal de Saude de
Campina Grande e do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia. Direct analyses of the
comments had been used, as also statistical techniques o f correlations between the
used cases of the studied illnesses and meteorological parameters. It was verified
that the minimum temperature did not have influence in the illnesses in study, in the
city of Campina Grande, and the maximum temperature influenced only in the
dengue cases. It was still observed that the precipitation influenced in the dengue
cases, for all the studied localities, and the relative humidity o f air had influence in
the dengue cases and meningitis in Campina Grande. Still it can be verified that in
Campina Grande, the precipitation, maximum temperature and the relative humidity
of air, had influenced in the cases of dengue and meningitis, when analyzed with
one week of imbalance. The correlations between the studied illnesses and the
meteorological elements in the considered cities had been low. Although it has not
had significant statistical values, however one evidenced that in the city of Joao
Pessoa the precipitation had influence in 78% of the occurred cases cholera, and the
too much presented correlations had been below o f 42% for the studied period.
