Abstract:
Understanding the trajectory of craziness and mental health inside the social historical context
is extremely relevant to be able to comprehend the presente through the past, all the
definitions, conceptions, perspectives, assistency models, perceptions and even stereotypes.
Into that perspective, family has started to be seen as a partner and a fundamental sphere on
the recovering of the one on mental suffering. Work on the theme “family on mental health”
means to surpass the individual sight to the collective sight, include the non institutional
cares, embrace interpersonal relationship, experience meanings, livings, perspectives,
desconstruct paradigms and prejudices, comprehend its demands, embracing family as a
unique and fundamental partner on the caring process of the one on mental suffering. On the
mental health scope the psychosocial atention has been gaining even more visibility.
Requiring new positions and approachs from the health professionals, family and society.
This new atention model has been result of social and polictical claims, mobilizations, break
down of paragims and prejudices, for the recognition of human and carriers of mental diseases
rights. This work needs to have as main objective analyzing the bibliographic collections
related to the family job facing one relative on mental suffering. The conclusion is that there
is an evident need of an effective assistence headed to the caring family of the one on mental
suffering. Based on relationship strategies, welcoming, hearing, that promote interaction
between families and health services, to achieve descontruction of stereotypes, and a
comprehensive knowledge about diagnosis and treatment, to strenghten the families to face
the obstacles caused by the disease, lessening the overloads and bad feelings that come with
the daily coexistence into the familiar dynamic.
