The role of the nurse in the family health strategy should be guided in the care of several dimensions involving the human being, including the spiritual dimension, fostering understanding and zeal to the values that give meaning to life and the meanings that generate hope beyond. In this perspective, the present study aimed to meet as the nurse addresses the religiousness/spirituality in care in ESF actions. This is a qualitative study, descriptive and exploratory typology, held during the period from November to December 2014 in five basic health units of the family in the municipality of Cuité-PB. The sample consisted of five nurses, and 3 urban area and rural area 2. The collection of material was performed through a semi-structured interview. For analysis of the empirical material, was used the technique of analysis of categorical type of themed content Bardin. After the speeches of the nurses emerged 4 categories, being that the second category presented tensions resulting from unclear ideas, There is thus the need to elect three subcategories, where one can see that there is still lack of clarity among the nurses about what is spirituality and religiosity, which are often discussed and interpreted in different ways, and that sometimes turn out to be swayed by their own beliefs. Often this approach is done only in situations of chronic illness or suffering. The importance of spirituality and religiosity with the patient, does it become essential in coping with disease and suffering that arise throughout life, empowering the individual, increases the social support network, enables the construction of new expectations in the face of life. He noted that scientific rationalism is an obstacle in the nursing care, leaving the user beliefs, often in the background. The nurses also related the faith of the patient as a way of coping with adverse situations in your life. Language and religious symbols, which are present in the communities are the ways in which the individual is to express their faith and religiosity.
