Resumen:
Among the agroindustry activities in Brazil , there is the slaughter of cattle, pigs and poultry , is one of national economic activities that can be considered as one of the most important
market ; The abattoir is comprehends as an activity of industrialization economic stake or
processing of agricultural products of animal origin. Although at different levels of
technology , and in general , the main impacts generated by these activities are related to the volume of consumption of drinking water, the generation of large flows of industrial waste , treatment of effluents and the environmental impacts caused by disposal of this waste. Reducing the volume of agro-industrial waste, cleaner production, rational use and reuse of water are topics of great interest today ahead of the scarcity of water resources in the country. In this sense, this research aimed to diagnose effluent treatment system municipal slaughterhouse Pombal - PB, Characterizing the physico- chemically, evaluating their efficiency and the parameters required by law. As a field of study the wastewater treatment system municipal slaughterhouse Pombal - PB was evaluated by defining points of sample collection to perform the determination of efficiency parameters , the following parameters were evaluated : Hydrogen potential (pH ) , total phosphorus (FT ) , Total Nitrogen (TN ) , Chemical Oxygen Demand ( COD ) , Biochemical Oxygen Demand ( BOD 5 ) , Sediment able Solids ( ssed ) , Turbidity , Oils and Greases in accordance with the methodologies described by regulatory competent organs of this activity. The results of the parameters analyzed were confronted with legislation based on CONAMA 357/05 resolutions. The physiochemical characterization revealed high levels for some variables, demonstrating that this is not in accordance with the parameters set by current Brazilian law, thus hurting the environmental laws of this activity. Given this situation, it is recommended changes to the form layout of the treatment system to meet the requirements of current legislation with the adoption of recycling techniques after this treaty in the slaughterhouse itself.
