Abstract:
This work investigated the photographic coverage of the Movimento Diretas Já
in the Veja magazine during its 15 months of activity between 1983 and 1984. The aim
was, specifically, to discuss the use of the photographic image as a conductor of a
message to the magazine‟s reader public. Examine the logic of social political game in
complicity plots at the effervescent Movimento Diretas Já, questioning the process of
construction of this movement by the importance of photojournalism in the weekly. It
also addressed the crystallized memory of the public photograph in this event. To do
this, the work relied on the Veja magazine's collection, from which it was possible to
ascertain the speeches, the buildings and the values used in the edition of the magazine,
in particular through the use of photography.
