Levantamento etnobotânico sobre o uso medicinal da babosa ( Aloe vera L.) por moradores do Distrito de Iara - CE.

Abstract

The science that studies the popular information that the human being has about the use of vegetables is known as ethnobotany. In this context, the present work aimed to make an ethnobotanical survey on the medicinal use of Aloe vera L. (Babosa) in the District of Iara, Barro-CE. 108 local residents were interviewed using semi-structured forms. Regarding the use of plants for medicinal purposes, 99% of the interviewees have already made or use plants for this purpose, being the main reason for the popular belief that these have a greater curative power. Of the 35 species mentioned, Mint, Babosa, Malva Santa and Capim Santo were the most listed. The majority (57%) of the respondents stated that they use Babosa, the main therapeutic purposes being: capillary hydration, scarring and stomach problems. The leaves are the most used part and information regarding the species obtained through friends, relatives and the internet. Only 2.5% make use of the Babosa by medical indication, ignoring its main side effects. In order to contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge about A. vera to the population, folders have been distributed addressing the indications, indications and side effects, but it is necessary to carry out programs in the basic health network, aimed at the construction of knowledge about the medicinal use of plants.
