Resumo:
From the numerical model predictions it was made a case study and case composition of active convection in the rainy and drought periods, aiming to describe the main characteristics of convection in the eastern region of the state of Pará. January 15-16, 1998. The results show that the system started at 18 GMT on the 15th and moved inland causing 40 mm rainfall observed in Belém. instability, where CAPE and the survey index reached maximum values at 18 GMT, respectively and -2.8. Local winds indicated the presence of the trade and its intensification resulted from its
docking with the sea breeze. The analysis of the compositions in the rainy and dry periods shows that the atmosphere presented similar thermodynamic configurations. A striking feature was the maximum CAPE value in the active convection period which is about 50% greater than the value of the drought composition (750Jkg "1 versus 1155Jkg" 1). In active convection the wind component presented higher magnitudes in the average troposphere.
