This study aims to know the quality of care that persons deprived of liberty receive. This study had the general objective to know and analyze the perception of men under deprivation of liberty, health care provided in a Provisional Detention Center of Paraiba Curimataú and had the following objectives up a profile socio-demographic and criminal of the study staff, evaluate the health care quality that is being given to earlier this population and identify the barriers faced to health care. It is a study of exploratory and descriptive nature from the perspective of a qualitative approach which included the participation of five men under imprisonment in a closed prison regime. Results were organized and analyzed in the light of the collective subject discourse second Lefèvre and Lefèvre (2005). The statements revealed that respondents to the health care offered points out some weaknesses, such as lack of a multidisciplinary team in the care given, recurrent self-medication and care predominantly of urgency and emergency, not being offered with frequencies preventistas actions. In general, the findings of this research conclude that it is necessary that the State guarantees the right to health, given that this is a broadly supported law in documentary bases governing occupational health in prisons. Thus, we hope this work will contribute to raise awareness among responsible agencies to provide qualified assistance to the population of this research.
