Itacoatiaras: um estudo das gravuras rupestres do Sítio Pau de Leite em Pombal - PB.

Abstract

The fault of archaeological researches in region that encompass the present study, as well as the interest in the theme discussed, moved its realization. The organicity of the research lead itself in a manner which, in its first chapter was constructed a generalized overview of the theoretical schools that guided the archeology in its scientific trajectory, giving to reader the possibility to become acquaint with the concepts that lead this study, concluding with the archaeological researches’ development in Brazil. In the second chapter, we explain the archaeological paths has trodden in Brazilian’s northeast, tapering the discussions about the rock farms, the surveys, the printing industry and its theoreticalmethodological implications in building of an authentic ensemble of knowledge of the prehistory in this region from Brazil. In the third moment of work, we relate about the rock register in various approaches, listing the classificatory proposals and the printing characteristics used for their elaboration, we discuss about the studies of printing industry from Paraíba, more specifically the university of the gravures, highlighting the strong presence of Itacoatiras. In the fourth chapter, we conclude with some theoretical discussions about the interpretation of the rock register. In this moment of the research is realized the cataloguing of the rock gravures of Pau de Leite’s farm in Pombal, making an overview of the printing characteristics of these records from the forms identified and the desires raised in the intriguing study of this graphic corpus.
