alcoholism is attracting the attention of the public power and of health professionals by its potential pathogenic processes that can be considered one of the most serious for humanity. Note that if a lack of research that is tending to characterize the production of Nursing Professionals in the area of alcohol and alcoholism in a general way. Objective: summarize the scientific publications about the nursing assistance forward to alcoholism. Methodology: It is an integrative review of publications available in specialised databases, between the period 2005 to 2015. The guiding question was: "What is the contribution of the nursing for the treatment of alcoholism". Results: The studies inserted into this revision occurred in its majority in the year 2011, predominated the studies quantitative and qualitative approach, which present the same percentage both with (43.75%) of the published articles. It was found that the magazine that most published studies related to the searched subject, was the Escola Anna Nery Nursing Magazine with 31% of the studies. The studies show that the nurse has great importance in the promotion, prevention, treatment and social rehabilitation of individuals. The studies also demonstrated a lack of preparation and a lack of knowledge by the professionals, for the provision of a qualified assistance facing this area, besides other difficulties presented to care dispensed to this clientele.
