Abstract:
This final paper has the purpose of investigating the teaching of music on the Programa Mais
Educação (More Education Program) in Uiraúna city, PB. The general objective of the study
is to analyze the contributions that the teaching of music in the program can favor the students
in relation to the teaching-learning process, and presents as specific objectives: to discuss the
importance of music teaching for students‘ cognitive development; to investigate the
dynamics of music teaching at the Benevenuto Mariano School; and finally, to analyze
students‘ interest in musical learning. For this purpose a bibliographic study was carried out
along with a qualitative analysis based on the questionnaires applied with students that were
linked to the program. We confronted our data with the analysis of the school‘s Political
Pedagogical Project (PPP) in order to verify the importance given to Music within this
context. The work was based on the research of authors such as Almeida, Jeadont, Loureiro,
Sekeff and Tinhorão.
