Resumo:
It is unquestionable that the process of teaching and learning the English Language in Brazil
has been fundamental for the critical education of students in schools throughout the country.
The history of the methods and approaches used to teach such language was marked by
several changes, considering that they did not answer the needs of each time in the 1970s.
One of the main changes in this area was the integration of cultural elements in the teaching
of the English language, which arose with the overturn of communicative studies. That way,
the materials used in the classroom as support to the teachers also evolved over time, as in the
case of the Textbooks. Despite all the technological developments that have emerged and are
still emerging today, TB continues occupying a very important place in the classroom and
also in students' learning. However, the books do not always effectively approach the most
current topics that are of interest to the student, which can also happen when it comes to the
cultural aspects approached in this type of material common to the classroom. Thus, this work
aims to analyze how cultural and intercultural aspects are represented or not in the English
Language Textbook Team Up, intended for the sixth grade of elementary school, which was
chosen to be worked in municipal schools , in the city of São Jose de Piranhas-PB, from 2017
to 2019. This research is supported by authors such as Kramsch (2012), Oliveira (2010),
Thompson (2011), as well as the official documents provided by the Brazilian Government,
Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) and the Base Nacional Curricular Comum (BNCC).
