Résumé:
The importance of inserting cultural aspects in the Foreign Languages teaching and learning
was not always something discussed and understood by scholars and professionals of the area.
However, nowadays, we can already glimpse a series of studies and pedagogical practices
focused on this theme, recognizing, therefore, the crucial role of including the cultural
component in the process of acquiring a new language. In that way, we share the idea that
when studying a foreign language, it is essential to take into account its socio-historical-
cultural context, since language has a social purpose and is intrinsically linked to cultural,
social, historical and identity manifestations of a people. Thus, aiming at the esteem of
incorporating culture in the Foreign Languages teaching, this work aims to analyze the
importance of developing communicative skills in integration with the cultural component in
the classes of English language, for that purpose, we propose activities that contemplate the
study of the Speaking, listening, reading, textual interpretation, lexical and grammatical
acquisition skills in integration with the cultural item Thansgiving Day, using as a didactic
resource the well-known TV series Friends. This research is characterized as bibliographic
descriptive and uses as theoretical foundation the contributions of Kramsch (1998), Brown
(2001), Holden (2001), Harmer (2007), among other scholars in the area.
