Resumen:
This present paper embodies a discussion about Classic method as to what concerns to
English as a second language (ESL). Therefore, this paper aims to discourse about
present methodology adopted by Brazilian schools in special public school as well as
private ones, linking it to the classical method and its possible addition to English
language classes. In order to raise questions if it adopting only one method would be
enough. On the other hand, it follows directions in the Law of Guidelines and National
basis of education (LDB); in High School curriculum guidelines (OCMS) and curricular
parameters. By reference to the lectures about aforesaid documents and theoretical texts
about classical method teaching; English as second language in postmodern Brazil. Just
knowing that classical method is not a new subject in the worldwide, but , currently it’s
something that’s being looking forward by parents who may feel a shortage in the
choose methodologies applied by public and privates schools in Brazil.
