Abstract:
The objective of this research was to evaluate frequency of the herbaceous species, the availability and supply of dry matter the herb layer and performance of goats finished at a Caatinga enriched with current grass (Urochloa trichopus Stapf.) And submitted to three supplementation levels concentrated (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% over the PV) over the control group (0.0%). This study was conducted at the Farm Lameirão (Santa Terezinha, PB) belonging to the Center for Health and Rural Technology at Federal University of Campina Grande. 24 F1 crossbred goats were used (Boer x SPRD) with average live weight of ± 27 kg. The experimental area was of 2.4 ha, divided into four paddocks of 0.6 ha. The animals were maintained in grazing from 8:00 to 16:00, moment later they were taken in to stalls where spent the night and received a concentrate supplementation composed of soybean meal and ground corncob. The frequency analysis of the species was accomplished through the presence or absence of each species within the sample unit, expressing the proportion of sample plots where the species been present. For the quantification of the availability of MS and forage offer, vegetation has been separated into current grass, other grasses and forbs that were cut off at ground level and heavy. It was also assessed the availability and offering of litter. The evaluations were done prior to starting The study and every 30 days until the end of the experiment. The consumption data and performance were analyzed according to completely randomized design with four treatments (concentrate supplementation levels) and six replications (animals), the data being submitted to analysis of variance and regression at 5%. The frequency of herbaceous species in the caatinga after thinning and enriched with current grass are more influenced by the environmental conditions (rain) than the handling of caatinga regardless of the concentrate supplementation level utilizedthe coefficient of similarity has been above 48%. In the caatinga after thinning and enriched with current grass, regardless of the season, availability of herbaceous components is not changed with the supplementation, but the measure that are characterizes dry period, the availability of dry matter of herbaceous vegetation decreased and the leaf litter boosts . The herbage allowance decreases as characterized the dry season and is influenced by supplementation with concentrated and potentializes the intake and digestibility of the dry matter protein and neutral detergent fiber inimproving performance (weight gain) mestizo goats F1 (Boer x SPRD) finished in after thinning caatinga and enriched with current grass.
