The quality of life and eating habits comprise an important determinant for the development of hypertension and its complications, as well as to the quality of life for the maintenance of health, aims to evaluate aspects related to quality of life and the feeding practices in the control of hypertension in patients seen by Family Health Units in the urban area of Picuí, in order to provide subsidies that can assist in the improvement of actions. Therefore, we selected 297 hypertensive of both genders. Data collection was carried out between April and May 2014 and used a semi-structured questionnaire with pressure control information, nutritional hypertensive state, waist hip ratio, Morisky Green Test, healthy food consumption markers of Sisvan , quality of life and socioeconomic issues (Gender , Age , Occupation, Education , family income , marital status). Statistical analysis of data was performed using the SPSS for Windows version 13.0. It was in relation to the control of hypertension that 59.3 % of respondents had controlled blood pressure in healthy eating markers 45.1% of respondents did not consume raw salad , 47.1 % did not consume vegetables and cooked vegetables , already in unhealthy markers 43.8 % of hypertensive consumed biscuits/crackers or chips package, 14% ate burgers and sausages offbeat further 16.5% consumed biscuits/cookies or candy stuffed , sweets, candies and chocolates little frequent , nutritional status 63% of persons were overweight or obese , to mental state 59.6 % of respondents had a high quality of life. In somatic manifestations 61.6 % showed high quality of life. In the general health perception 58.6 % consider present a good health and quality of life. The results show that although most are hypertensive with controlled pressure, have risk factors for this control, so it is necessary care strategies for this group, to ensure the guidelines and effectively greater control of pressure.
