Abstract:
The objective of this work was to identify the stratigraphic variation of the subsoil and
the seasonal variation of the water table with the purpose of comprehending the
dynamics of the formation process of profound lineal erosions in a associated slope to a
big rills in the Municipal district of Sorriso - MT. The field surveys consisted of
acquisitions of direct geological data, obtained through for manual probing holes and
superficial observations, together with geophysical surveys of resistivity and ground
penetrating radar (GPR) methods. After the modeling and interpretation of the
geophysical data with base in the information obtained geological through of the manual
probing holes, it was possible to evaluate the utilization potentiality of the resistivity
method to identify the seasonal variation of the water table. The vertical electrical
sounding (VES's) identified resistive and conductive horizons, correlated with the
pedologic variation, the top of the rock and the depth of the top level water. The GPR
method proved effective to map structures of subsoil that allowed to identify the depth
of the top level water and the top of rock. The geophysical results were adjusted from
the geological information of wells of top level water controling and manual probing
holes, allowing investigations up to 30m of depth (VES's) with good lateral resolution
(GPR), enabling the delineation of the stratigraphic variation and the top level water
along the studied slope.
