Caio Fernando Abreu no entre-lugar das sexualidades: fluidez erótica em “Uma história confusa”.

Abstract

Through the relationships between the characters of the short story “Uma história confusa”, we aim to analyze the eroticism that inserts them into a symbolic inter-place of sexualities, which allows for a sexually indefinite behavior. We systematized our critical-literary analysis in three chapters. In the first part, we contextualize the social appropriation of sexuality in favor of power. We address queer theory questions about the limits of sexuality. We introduced the space of deconstruction of sexual demarcations. In the second part, we expose some characters of the Caio Fernando Abreu’s short stories with indeterminate sexualities. We present the book Ovelhas negras of 1995 as an autobiographical and fictional panorama of the literature of this author. In the third part, we synthesize the narrative of the short story analyzed. We retake the theories that approach the sexualities, considering them as migratory states. We justify the queer behavior through eroticism between the characters analyzed. For this research, we dialogue with Foucault’s (2015) thinking about sexuality as a tool of control. With Butler (2016), Salih (2015), Louro (2016) and Miskolci (2016) about the queer theorization. With Camargo (2010), Leal (2002) and Ferreira Junior (2006) about the erotic and sexual aspects of the Caio Fernando Abreu’s literature. With Barcellos (2006) about the homoeroticism in literature. With Santos (2008) about the homoaffection. In this way, we observed what in certain Caio Fernando Abreu’s short stories some characters migrate between social concepts of sexuality, a fact that contextualizes them as queer, subjects that subvert and transgress these concepts.
