Given the current epidemiological and nutritional status, it has been implemented measures aimed at Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) in schools as an important strategy in the development of healthy eating habits. As the school environment conducive to the educational process, the teacher is an important component of the school team, because, in addition to recognize the specific characteristics of each student is involved with the social and cultural reality of each student, also has a communicative similarity to work the proposed subjects and effectively achieve the target audience. Thus, the research aims to identify the profile and perception of elementary school teachers from a municipal school about the importance of EAN in schools. This is a descriptive research, field and transversal with a qualitative approach, the same was developed with the teachers of the School Professor Eudócia Alves dos Santos located in the urban area of Cuité municipality in the state of Paraíba. The data were collected through a structured questionnaire combining open and closed questions, in addition to holding a focus group. The analysis of data was performed descriptively. The participants of this research were six teachers and it was noticed that most were graduate and specialization in Pedagogy, besides many years of experience in the classroom and demonstrated understand that the inclusion of thematic content on Healthy Eating in the associated curriculum to an appropriate menu are factors of great importance in the school setting. The teachers demonstrated relevant knowledge and relevant speeches about healthy eating and EAN. They showed a critical view regarding the meals offered by the institution, opining even on healthier snacks options, without there being a routine dialogues on food and nutrition, in the school context with health professionals, reinforcing the idea that the power is inherent in the human being and not only of a specific professional. Regarding the insertion of EAN in the curriculum it was realized a difference in opinions of the teachers, because some considered the school an environment for these transformative actions other saw it as one more responsibility, in view of the need for technical instrumentalization of teachers, other school employees and health professionals. The teachers also reported that the promotion of healthy eating habits would increase if the EAN intersectoral actions and they were held in conjunction with family and social assistance. Therefore, concludes with the results that educators showed critical knowledge about the subject, but it is very important that there be a dialogue between the school team, the family and the professional nutritionist technician responsible for the PNAE so that there is effective in promoting healthy eating and the EAN actions.
