Resumo:
This study aimed to describe the epidemiological and vector indicators of dengue in Curimataú of Paraiba in 2011. It was used data on the occurrence of the disease, of Information System for Notifiable Diseases (SINAN), monitoring Aedes aegypti, and population data and environment. During this period, 427 cases of dengue were reported with higher incidence in the age group 15-29 years and higher proportion among women (62%). Dengue in Curimataú Paraiba region had become more frequent in the first half of 2011, coinciding with the period of greatest rainfall and infestation. It is noticed that the strategies to combat the Aedes aegypti have not been efficacious, because the measures have not produced the expected epidemiological effects, requiring the reduction of artificial breeding sites, mainly those used for water storage in households without proper protection, with the reduction of household hazards vector proliferation.
