Resumo:
In this paper we analyze the perception of the Semi-Arid teachers on the contribution of
continuing education for the education context. Used as instrument of data collection the
application of questionnaire to teachers of an elementary School from Sume city - PB, with
the intention of knowing how important continuing education of these professionals have in
the life of teaching, as well as his point of views on education and continuing education
context. To this end, we had the theoretical framework proposed by scholars, Freire (1996),
Hengemühle (2008), Martins (2006), Morin (2000). We have found that teachers participating
in the survey in spite of having heard of Contextual Education, can not relate to the
implementation of continuing education an educational proposal in context, mostly because as
we found, the continuing education courses offered for teachers in that region do not
considerthis approach in their training content and proposals for improving teaching.
