The Heart failure (HF) is a complex syndrome resulting from various heart diseases affecting the heart, which is characterized by a malfunction of the heart, is considered a major public health problems. Its incidence increases with the aging of the population, since it affects mainly the elderly. It has various etiologies, most cases related to coronary artery disease, hypertension, valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathy. The diagnosis is primarily clinical character, but complementary diagnostic methods can provide information that contribute to a more efficient therapeutic response. Thus, the present study aims to describe the Heart Failure, emphasizing the pharmacological and nutritional treatment. For this, we performed an integrative literature review in Medline, PubMed, Lilacs, Scielo and national and international health committees of the articles published in the last 14 years, addressing the Heart Failure. The following search terms (keywords and delimiters) were used in various combinations: 1) Heart Failure; 2) Heart Failure; 3) Nutrition and failure; 4) Treatment of Heart Failure; 5) Managment of heart failure; 6) Therapeutics. Therefore, a detailed study on the IC is essential to understanding the benefits of the combined use of a drug and can provide nutritional support to patients, thus improving the health and quality of life.
