Resumo:
Mental disorders (TM) or behavior are a major health problem worldwide due to its high prevalence, incidence and cost. The pharmacist to be one of the most affordable professional, can play a decisive role in serving users affected by these disorders in order to achieve effectiveness and efficiency to patients’ assistance. Therefore, this study aimed to conduct a survey data on the performance of pharmacists in mental health services with health education. For this, we developed a non-systematic literature review of qualitative approach, held in databases SciELO, Lilacs (inserted in the virtual library in health - Bireme) and Pubmed, seeking publications between the period 2004 and 2015. The results showed that the impact of pharmaceutical interventions (IF) in patients with mental disorders was relevant, obtaining a positive assessment by the users, showing clinical, humanistic and economic satisfactory. Educational activities with patients have been reported in most studies, however only a minority was described as health education. Despite the positive results, the pharmacist performance in this area is still scarce, considering that the TM is high distribution worldwide. It is noticed that the pharmaceutical practice by the carrier of these diseases population is extremely low or little known.
