Nos quadros da literatura: o diálogo entre o romance Frankenstein e sua adaptação para os quadrinhos.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to make a comparative analysis of the classic English novel of Mary Shelley, Frankenstein (1818) and the comic adaptation of Fiona Macdonald (2009). This text, first, highlights the importance of defining the Comics as literature, as well as outlining the relevance of literary genres for this. Then we will make an explanation of the relevance of comic reading for the formation of the critical reader. After that, we will make a comparative analysis of the works cited, highlighting similarities and differences between them. This monograph will be based on the theories of Coutinho (1978) and Aguiar & Silva (1982) for presenting literature settings; Coelho (1980) and his studies of literary genres; Cirne (1977), Eisner (1999) and Ramos (2009) for studies on Comics; Lajolo (2002) and Rezende (2011) by emphasizing the importance of the act of reading; Scholes (1991) and Silva (2012) for contributions on horror literature to guide us in the analysis of the works cited. Thus, it is research that demonstrates the importance of reading comics as a new literature for the reader society.
