Resumo:
This monographic work presents the study of fairy tales and seeks to understand about the
importance to adapt classic literature to cinema screens. This paper aims to propose a
comparative analysis of the adaptation of the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty” to the cinema,
focusing on the Evil and it also aims to show the existing variations in “Sun, Moon and Talia”
by Basile, “Sleeping Beauty” of Grimm, and their versions adapted to the cinema: “The
Sleeping Beauty” (1959) and Disney Maleficent (2014). For this, we observe aspects of
diferences and similarities, taking into consideration that each language has its own
peculiarities. Also, we wish to highlight the importance of the fairies in children’s stories,
revealing a diferente perspective in perceiving the universe to which permeate these magical
beings, from the retelling of the film adaptations. Greater focus will be given to the figure of
the fairy and the role played by it in written and cinematic narratives. We understand the role
heroin or villain plays in stories and adaptations. To do so, we used a search of
bibliographical nature, based on theorists: Arroyo (1968); Aries (1973); Abramovich (1997);
Zilberman (1994); Diniz (2005); Gotlib (2006); Paio (2006); Stam (2008); Coelho (2012);
Hutcheon (2013); Bettelheim (2014). From the perspective of those authors, we can analyse in
more depth the relevance that has fairy tales to the children’s universe. And, show how the
literary médium tries to approach the filmic universe or distance himself, even though
diferente categories. These two forms delight young audiences to the presente day with its
fantastic beings, so called legendar beings, but that through the floor or through images
passed on the silver screen, represent some of the values transmitted by the oral tradition.
